SimplyCompare ("we", "our", "us") is a Shopify app that helps merchants create product comparison tables using their existing store data. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
When you install SimplyCompare, we access and store:
- Shop information — your Shopify store name and domain, used to associate your data with your account
- Product data — product titles, images, handles, prices, variant IDs, and metafield values, used to build comparison table snapshots
- Session data — Shopify session tokens for authentication, stored securely in our database
What we do NOT collect
- Customer personal information (names, emails, addresses)
- Payment or billing details (handled entirely by Shopify)
- Browsing or analytics data from your storefront visitors
How we use your data
Your data is used solely to power the SimplyCompare app:
- Building and displaying comparison tables on your storefront
- Syncing product metafield definitions from your store
- Maintaining your session for secure access to the app
We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third parties.
Data storage
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Render (render.com), secured with encrypted connections. Comparison table snapshots are stored as JSON and served to your storefront via Shopify's app proxy.
Data retention and deletion
Your metafield definitions and comparison tables remain in our database while the app is installed. If you uninstall SimplyCompare:
- Your product metafield values remain in Shopify (they are Shopify-native and not dependent on our app)
- You may request deletion of all stored data by contacting us
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your stored data at any time by contacting us.
